{"title":"Trachycarpus latisectus","description":"Trachycarpus latisectus (formerly Trachycarpus sikkimensis) is an attractive palm tree with large leathery leaves with exceptionally wide segments and a thick, bare and ringed trunk. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIts fan-shaped leaves resemble those of Livistona. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt has a bare trunk and its seeds resemble those of T. martianus. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt is considered a temperate palm, and has been reported to withstand a wide range of climates, from tropical, subtropical to cold and wet conditions. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt is native to Sikkim in the Himalayas, where it has been reported from a range of elevation between 3500 and 7000 feet. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nIt remains in the wild in just one tiny, heavily altered location which is immediately threatened by deforestation.\u003cbr\u003e\r\nTrachycarpus latisectus is cultivated outside its native range as an ornamental. The tree grows quickly and easily. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nT. latisectus requires a rich and loamy but well-drained soil. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nYoung plants are best grown under some shade. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nAs it does not have an invasive root system, it also grows well in containers. \u003cbr\u003e\r\nWinterhardy till -17°C.","products":[],"url":"https:\/\/tropicalcentre.nl\/collections\/trachycarpus-latisectus.oembed","provider":"Tropical Centre","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
